When Play Becomes Work - Motivation and Reward →
But rewards and punishments are not always counterproductive, Benabou said. He drew a distinction between mundane tasks and those that carry meaning for people. In the first case, Benabou argued, rewards and punishments work exactly the way economists predict: They get people to do things.
External rewards and punishments are counterproductive when it comes to activities that are meaningful...

A night out at the Buff Club →
So this saturday I went to the Buff Club in Glasgow. The music in that place is amazing. Kind of a funk, jazz, disco, house mix. Very nice tunes to dance to. And the people seemed like a good bunch mostly. You got some who were trying too hard. They seemed to have epileptic seizures or something.. it was painful to watch and dangerous to be nearby, with head and arms flailing around uncontrolled....

London recap
Well I’m at London Heathrow and I’ve got 1min before my time runs out so this has to be quick: Saturday will be remembered as the drinking night. We started off in the Tokyo Diner with some Sake and from there things got worse. Since my mum will be reading this I’ll leave it at that. Sunday I was not feeling so good so we went to the park alot. Monday we went to see Wicked...

This is the plan for my India holiday so far.
The Isle of Arran - or not
Original Plan: Go to the isle of Arran and learn the fine art of fishing and camping. Reality strikes: Flooding and terrible weather mean we miss the boat to Arran and are reluctant to camp. New Plan: Go to Ayr, stay in holiday apartment, eat salmon and blue cheese and get drunk while watching DVDs. Result: SUCCESS

T in the Park
I was at T in the Park last week, my wellingtons covered in mud, my mind drenched in alcohol, and ears filled with music. I got to see CSS, Mika, The Killers, Razorlight, Arcade Fire and Jet. I also got to stand in the traffic jam for hours on friday, wade through mud and muck and smell the piss of 80000 campers. The weather was great and in the office the next day I could tell who had been to...

Jeep in Airport
I was there a day earlier! Scary stuff! What if questions galore. Still the John Smeaton story amuses me very much. Especially the thousand pint pledge for John Smeaton, where people donate money so he can have a thousand pints waiting for him at the airport hotel.

Keep up the good work brave warrior! We are counting on you, my friend.

Food for 300!
I went for a meal today with three friends at a steak restaurant. Delicious fresh flesh! Afterwards I saw 300. Amazing choreography, witty comments, powerful message yet enjoyably simple. Exactly what I wanted and expected! I really have to go to the Gym now though.
